how it all began
CrossCampus International, Inc. was established by Steve Schirmer during his weekly meeting with his first mentor, Jarrod Roberts, who is now the Sr. Pastor at West Rome Baptist Church in Rome, GA. The date this ministry was founded was December 4, 2000.
From the very beginning, mentoring was part of this ministry. Today, it's one of the core ministries that we have. We believe wholeheartedly that mentoring is one of the most effective discipleship tools we have available to the church. In fact, we believe Jesus was the perfect model of mentoring as he taught the 12 disciples how to live for Him.
In the beginning, we were simply focused on getting believers in the USA involved in the Great Commission. It just so happened that East Asia was our primary place to take our short-term teams to minister. Since the beginning, we have been sharpened and our vision has increased.
Today, our core ministry location is in East Asia (with our home office in the USA). We are working to spread the Gospel among East Asian university students and then equip them through mentoring and training to live for Christ and fulfill the Great Commission as they live the Great Commandment.
East Asia is a place where the Gospel is still limited but where the church is growing exponentially. The church in East Asia is becoming involved in the Great Commission globally. By God's grace, we are partnering with the church in East Asia in collegiate ministry and in mission's mobilization & training.
